Chapter Twenty-One

Amelia could hear the amusement in his voice. She put the bags down and turned to him. He had a coy smile as he looked at her. It was like he was a little kid who had just done a prank that was about to unfold right in front of him. He stood waiting for her to come down with the bags. He didn’t bother to offer to help, it was clear he wanted to see her try.

Amelia wasn’t going to give him the pleasure of watching her struggle. She kept her focus on one bag, as she dragged it down the stairs. She’d then come back for the other one, so it was less heavy on her. Lucas stood in the same spot with the same smile, douche. Amelia gave him her back and tried to slowly pull the bag down.

Lucas cleared his throat, “Do you need some help?”

She did, but she wouldn’t admit it. Not after he wanted to use her struggle for pleasure. She turned to face him wanting to give him a glare for his offer. He had a huge stupid smile on his face, that made her want to smile. She quickly turned back around not wanting him to see her smile.

“No, I got it,” Amelia continued to pull.

Amelia could hear his footsteps as he walked up the stairs.

“I said I got it,” she barked.

“Yes, you do, that bag’s all you. I’m just going to get this one.”

Amelia watched Lucas as he attempted to lift the bag. He could barely lift it two inches off the ground, it was too heavy for him. Karma for laughing at her earlier. Amelia liked watching him keep retrying to lift it after thinking he could do it easily.

“What’s in here?”

“Clothes.”

“So, nothing breakable?”

“No?” Amelia said before she realized.

Before she could stop him, Lucas kicked the bag down the stairs. It tumbled down until it stopped by the door.

“Easy enough.”

Amelia didn’t know how to react. On one hand, it was rude, on the other it solved the problem. She stared at Lucas in disbelief, did he really just do that?

“What if-” Amelia was about to complain.

He watched her with her mouth open ready to twist her words, “What if you give it a try?”

“I’m not kicking it.”

“Okay, we have a variety of options. Pushing, punching, you know that move they do in soccer when they use their head to score you could do that. All very valid options but choose wisely you can only go once.”

She stared at in utter disbelief. What the hell? “No!”

“Why not? You said nothing inside was breakable.”

“The bag is.” She felt her words disconnect as her response didn’t live up to what she would’ve liked it too.

Lucas let out a dry chuckle at her question. What was funny? It was a serious question. She could push the bag down, and the zipper could break or the wheel.

“Are you serious? You’re a multimillionaire and you’re worried about a bag breaking, just buy a new one. Live a little, I promise it’s worth it.
